May 27, 2026

BSAFE/UBI (University of Beira Interior) presented the COOPERHATE project at the 5th International Conferences on Clinical and Health Psychology (5CI-PCS), which took place on 20 and 21 May 2026 at the UBI Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. Under the theme “Mental Health, Social and Environmental Changes, Innovation and Technology in Clinical and Health Psychology”, the event brought together researchers, professionals and students to present and discuss scientific papers in the different areas of Clinical and Health Psychology.

The presentation, which was part of the Symposium “Diversity, inclusion and combating discrimination in different populations and contexts”, focused on UBI’s main contributions to the project. In particular, the University plays a relevant role in the development of innovative methodologies and tools for the detection, monitoring and analysis of incidents and hate speech. At the same time, it is responsible for a study based on structured interviews and a focus group, involving professionals from civil society organisations, security forces, technology companies and judicial actors. This study seeks to identify concrete challenges related to inter-institutional collaboration, information sharing, and trust mechanisms among entities, contributing to the development of more effective responses to prevent and combat hate speech and hate crimes.
